6 Tips To Feel Less Lonely in 2020

Lets face it, being lonely sucks. Here are 6 tips to get over feeling lonely in 2020!

As I sit here beginning this post it’s so quiet I can here the ticking on the street pole that indicates it’s safe to cross the road. The air is crisp and fills my lungs with coldness. I’m completely alone and lonely. It’s a sucky feeling, lonliness, it makes you think people don’t care, but for the most part they do… Don’t they?

I guess to get out of this lonliness funk, I’ve come up with ways that have and will help me stop feeling lonely. I mean it’s 12 days into the new decade, we can’t be feeling this already, right?

To be honest, theres no right answer to that, emotions come and go with us having no warning of them. The best we can do is feel them and deal with them.

So, here are 6 things you can do to stop feeling so lonely in the new year:

Get a pet: Getting a pet can be super rewarding IF YOU’RE ABLE TO CARE FOR IT to the best of your ability. Adopting a pet I imagine is like having a small child because you need to love it, feed it and walk it. This can be a great idea if you can commit to something for the next 10 years at least.
Journal your feelings: I know you;ve heard me suggest this a million times already, but it helps. Writing down how you feel is a great way to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper (or phone). It will allow you to check in with yourself and clear your mind for a better headspace.
Accept that people move on: This one is often difficult to do. However, we must understand that people change. Someone you we’re friends with/loved 5 years ago isn’t going to be the same person. We either grow together or grow apart and thats okay. When a door closes another one opens.
Those who care about you will make time for you but you also have to make time for them.
Focus on yourself and keep busy: which simply means doing the things you love alone, with friends or family.
Find a hobby: This is a good thing to focus on in your spare time. It could be going to the beach, playing a sport, running, doing yoga or playing a game.

I know lonliness is a part of life and it comes and goes. But let’s not choose to be lonely.

I hope these tips have helped.
