Let us specify that this is not clickbait & dives into really simple strategies to achieve everything you want & need in life.
Strap in SMP fam, we’ve got a lot to say on this one…
Do you ever wonder how people are living their best lives? How they manage to get everything they want in life and what they do to get it?
Honestly, same! For years we wondered how people got their dream house, their dream car, had heaps of friends and just seemed all-around happy. Like, is that honestly how things are?
The short answer is no. People only show us what they want us to see. If things a shitty you’re sure as hell not going to hear about it, because it’s not glamorous.
The reality behind people “living their best lives” is consistency. They put in the work to earn their dream house, their dream car and ultimately their dream lifestyle. They imagine what it looks like, they put it into the universe with intentions and goals for their future. Our last post goes into how to set intentions, click here for a Gucci read.
So how do you turn your dreams into a reality?
Firstly, a hard truth- it’s up to you to make it happen. Whatever you want in life isn’t going to fall into your lap, you have to go out and make it a thing.
Let’s say you want to study and achieve a degree in something at college/university, you have to first see what you need to get in- maybe that’s a previous certificate or experience- go and do it. Then, go through the motions of earning your degree by completing subjects and ticking off the boxes.
Say you want to buy a car but have zero dollars, start budgeting and putting money away for a certain amount of time. Let’s break it down… Say you want to buy a $20,000 car and want to get a loan for the majority. If the loan company is expecting a 10% deposit to gain the $20k, that means you need $2,000 and you want to have that money in 6-months, putting away $333.33 a month for the next 6-months.
These are all good examples, right? But what is the underlying concept in all of them?
Here’s a clue, it’s something all of us possess…
Yep, you guessed it, it’s determination.
Determination and motivation are how people get what they want. They believe in themselves and don’t need others to be invested in their outcomes. Once you’re invested in yourself, you’re unstoppable.
That’s the secret. “successful people” don’t give up. Of course, that’s easier said than done, but what we mean is, no matter how much you stumble, or you fall, or you break. You can put yourself back together and keep going. That doesn’t mean don’t take a break, we all need a rest. Just don’t lose sight of what you want and where you’re going. Invest in yourself, invest in your self-worth and motivation. That’s the key. You can come from nothing, from absolute poverty, but if you believe in yourself & your dreams, you will go places.
You are worthy of going places and being someone amazing.
If you’re stuck, keep going. If you’ve fallen or feel broken, crawl until you can stand and fucking fight. We all have some fight in us, that’s how we’re still breathing, you know that. So, fight for yourself and the life you want to live. Shout it to the universe, write it down, paint yourself a picture [literally] and manifest it into a reality.
Look, we know you’re sceptical, we were too. How can you just manifest something, put it into the universe and work towards it becoming a reality? Shit is crazy, right?
Well, let us tell you a story. If you’re an OG SMP reader, you’ll know this site used to be a blog called “A Safe Space”. Now you know it as a rebranded business/blog called “Sharp Minds Psychology”. If you’re an OG or even a fairly new reader, you’ll know the owner, Shae.
If not, hey what’s up? I’m Shae! Nice to meet you. Lol, yes, I’m the only one who writes on the site so far, I’m a one brand kind of girl. Honestly, not really, I just can’t afford to pay someone to contribute to the business yet. All in good time though.
Anyway, back to the story.
Shae grew up in a low socioeconomic area where people just struggled to live. She went to a fairly good all-girls catholic school, graduated year 12, and moved to Melbourne from Sydney at the age of 18 to study business. She failed her first year of university, then transferred a bunch until she found a degree in psychological science as her dream was to become a psychologist and help as many people as she could. Throughout the many, many, low key decade of studying she was in and out of toxic relationships- experiencing messed up stuff [if you’re a female reader, you know what I’m talking about], distancing herself from her family, and even redoing failed university subjects.
By now you’re probably reading, being like “GET TO THE POINT ALREADY”. Fine, for all of you not enjoying the long read 😉 Shae never gave up on her dream, because it was so much bigger than herself. If you don’t want to read on, your loss! Take what you will from this though.
Fast forward 3 years and Shae graduated with a bachelor in psych science, went on to receive her grad diploma, and then her honours. She is now studying her masters [because it’s a long-ass process to become a psych] and is now registered as a provisional psychologist [baby psych] who will be a fully licensed and registered psychologist by the end of 2021. Completing her dream of being a psych & going on to help those who need it.
This is how we know that anything is possible if you don’t give up. Guaranteed the universe is going to throw a lot of traumatic shit at you & it’s up to you to grow, heal and learn from whatever happens & channel it constructively into how you live your life.
Turning your dreams into a reality is through goals, hard work and determination. There’s no other secret than that.
